- Back from Australia, Real Housewife of NYC Alex McCord recaps the last three episodes.
Allllrighty — back from Australia, very jetlagged, and catching up on three episodes before the winner is announced tonight!! I was sort of sorry not to see any t-shirt mini challenges as I’m in need of inspiration. After washing my favorite t-shirt several times, it still smells of the koala I carried around last week for the amusement of the men in my family. It was damp and also kept trying to grab my nose. Hmmmph.
Episode 9 – was kind of bored through the sleepwear and the tarot cards. Having experienced a tarot card reading on TV as well, I think that even if you are with a reader who is truly gifted, it’s hard to get an accurate reading on camera — there’s so much going on around you and such a strong desire on the part of the reader to create a good impression that it can easily be skewed. However, it can make good foreshadowing when edited right! LOVED Reco’s look and would buy it; Anna’s too and I’m so glad she won that week — she really deserved to. The only ones I wouldn’t wear out of this episode were Merlin’s or Daniella’s, and although he was not the weakest designer of the bunch, due to that garment Merlin definitely had to go home.
Moving on to Episode 10 – I loved the draping challenge, and thought pretty much everyone but Johnny did a good job. I got really excited when I saw the Swarovski crystals and couldn’t wait to see what the designers did with them. It was really great to see some of the designers come back, and I was so happy to see Anna and Keith teamed together — I think her look was very Anna with a little bit of Keith splashed in. My favorite detail was the usage of crystal on the inside of the bow, and although I thought using the cup detail two weeks running was risky, it didn’t matter in the end. Daniella’s neckline was stunning and I’d happily wear it. I sort of wish that the skirt was a little more tailored but I don’t know how you’d do that with that fabric. Reco’s dress was cool and sexy; I’d choose that for a day into night sort of affair, where the red carpet is in daylight so you can see through the dress. I was really disappointed by James-Paul’s, but he’s a great designer overall so I think this was his week to try something and fall on his face. It was too princess-y for my taste, which was really surprising as I wouldn’t have thought he’d ever go that way. I have to say that I actually would wear Johnny’s dress, but once I saw the Lanvin dress he’d referred to, plus his sulky, cover-your-tracks, blame it on Angel sort of behavior, I knew he had to go. Come on, even my five-year-old rarely acts out that much when I catch him red-handed.

James-Paul should had one this by the way I just came back from Australia my self a couple of weeks ago and saw James' show on Arena cable channel, and a whole pub in Sydney was rooting for James-Paul, it was crazy it was like a football game, I don't understand why Americans don't support creative people, James-paul would have been a great representative of the young american creative, well, James-Paul, the whole Australian continent voted for you..........Australia adores you

So tired of all of the "Reco Ranters".. had he been the best then.. fine. His models could not even "walk" down the aisle in his clothes. Imagine tripping down the aisle in your wedding gown!! And he and Daniella did nothing but complain the whole season about everyone else, criticize others, and brag about their "greatness" instead of concentrating on the challenges at hand. Anna did that. She kept out of the "drama", she made clothing that many women could and would want to wear, and she kept her creativity.. Isn't THAT what this show was about? It was NOT "Project Runway".. and, I think most of the designers made the mistake of thinking it was..and let their ego get ahead of them... In the end, fashion has to be what real people will wear.....and buy... not fantasy clothing for only the rich, size zero, very young (who can't afford it yet, anyway!).. Fashion needs to promote , more, to the women who work, have jobs, and are not size zero, who actually BUY the clothes?? Anna did that..and in a good way and with grace and dignity.. I hate reading all of the mean comments that focus on the other designers and do not give the winner her credit.. Anna won.. America has voted.. and the rest will still do well with their media and publicity from the show..so, why say negative things/still whine and promote the others?

Can you please bring back the Real Housewives of Orange County ?????
I can't handle either New Jersey or New York. Everyone is just too stressed out and psychotic or mafia wannabees on those shows.
The California people were just nice, laid back, enjoying life with their kids and each other and there was no where near the drama as in New Jersey and New York. I loved the weather, the houses, the people. Please bring them back !!!!!!!!

i voted for james-paul too!
his collection was clearly the most innovative. i think people may have been intimidated by the way they were styled... but each of his pieces would've been great as separates paired with basics like t-shirts and jeans or simple pants or skirts. people need to realize that just because some pieces were a bit more complicated than putting on a basic pullover doesn't mean they aren't wearable everyday clothes! there are many japanese designers that create interesting clothes than actually DO come with an instruction card. so what, its not an issue unless you can't read and can't interpret pictures.
i hope james-paul goes on to have a successful and innovative design career. he definitely has the talent.

What are you using to wash your tee-shirt that you can't get rid
of a Koala's smell? Damp or not, they really do not have a strong
odor.

Alex, I agree I would have James-Paul win. I know I'm late reading this, but I voted for James-Paul and I do wish he had won.

I agree with most of your comments except that John Paul garments were great, anyone wearing them would need a dresser with an instruction card (with pictures on how to do it). And even you must have moments as mom of two boys (me too), where the hour you would like to get dressed turns into less than 30 minutes.

So if we all thought James Paul should have won, how did Anna end up with the prize?.....boring...the whole show was a disappointment. I actually liked most of Reco's work throughout the show so I was dissapointed that he was eliminated. Anna's was great fashion but not great runway. Daniella bothered me through out the show and I only thought her runway was okay. None of it wowed me. but I loved, loved, loved her evening grey gown win.
