Producer

Didn't Disappoint

Producer Lenid Rolov gives you behind-the-scenes dish on Camille's party.

July 13, 2009

My personal favorite moment in episode four is a very small one. It comes toward the end when Jessie and PC are at Aroma café. Jessie is giving PC a hard time about standing her up (rightfully so) and PC announces that he’s not letting her start drama and runs out of the café laughing. Jessie can’t help but grin gleefully at PC’s whimsical charms and they share an unadulterated moment of youthful giddiness. This small but telling interaction reveals perfectly the bond these two friends have and also the luminous light of youth that shines so bright within them and makes me happy every time I watch it.

Speaking of PC standing Jessie up… we were as surprised as you were that Camille showed up at Dean & Deluca while Jessie was waiting for PC. I know it feels like something engineered by evil reality TV producers but even though Manhattan is huge, the UES is what amounts to a small village, and this café is where Camille chose to get her coffee after school. We’d been shooting Jessie waiting for PC for over thirty minutes and were just about to call it a day when a producer spotted Camille about to walk in. We quickly threw a microphone on her and let the action play out.

This episode featured a nice sampling of the kids friends… Gabe (Sebastian’s wingman), Ayala (Taylor’s classmate), Maite (Camille’s friend), Dan (Camille’s date), Kat (PC’s friend) and Cole (Taylor’s date). We all felt very lucky to have such dynamic supporting players on the show. I can’t say enough about how much value they added to the series (I can listen to Maite talk for hours and Cole is the kid I always wish I’d been in high school). I look forward to you getting to know each one of them better in future episodes.

I absolutely LOVE NYC prep! it is my favorite show ever!!! I just had a question i know on bravo they have reunions like for real housewives, and i was wondering if you were planning on having a reunion for the cast of NYC prep. Anyways i loved watching the scenes with Jesse and PC their love hate relationship is amusing.
Sincerely,
Cassi (San Jose, CA)

Dude, I love this show. I'm hopelessly hooked. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure. Living in New Jersey (I hate it btw)and having turned 18 recently, I go to NYC a lot. It's fun to see how the kids of the Upper East Side grow up. I've always been very curious. Keep up the good work!

Another amazing episode. PC's rants during the dinner party made the whole show. Very entertaining. (When's he getting his own dating show?) Half-joking. Anyway, I think this show is currently one of the best on Bravo. After Project Runway moving to Lifetime and the Fashion Show not really living up to the standards of PR, NYC Prep has made it to my priority watch list.

i LOVE LOVE this show im 19 and i live in nyc and this all true abt the NYC Social scene, cant wait for tomorrows episode .I love seeing places that i go to like Alice's Tea Cup in the upper east where camille and her friend ate to talk about being a "boyfriend girl" they srsly sell the best 3 dollar cupcakes on the upper east side lol im in love with them. And PC is hilarious he makes the show so entertaining, i just love him hahha

I am usually a HUGE fan of bravo reality shows and I can certainly appreciate with the loss of Project Runway you are looking for a new demographic. NYC Prep, however, is the worst of the worst. The teenagers are over priviledged brats with no parental supervision and basically all act as if they could use a good whack to the back of the head. Why why would you offer them the attention their parents refuse to give them? You're only encouraging them to be even more brat-astic. Please please let this be the only season and as a consolation prize offer the Jessie chick who thinks she's God's gift some extra bucks for her cross-eyed correction surgery.

I absolutely love this show! i just cant seem to get enough of it .. i fell in love with Jessie she is my absolute favorite! i love what she is doing and putting her networking to good use. I know alot of people talk badly about this show and what not but they Dont understand what NYC is like u never will get it unless u spend time in the city. NYC is just not about 5th ave.& time square there is Solo and manhattan each block is a Different feel of Cutler thats why i LOVE spending time in NYC . ITS NOT LIKE THE REST OF AMERICA! in my option it should be its only country lol. these kids are not faking it! if u like it or not people this is True NYC. upper east side my mother grew up between New jersey and NYC and told me this is Truly new york you guys did a GREAT job at making this show .. and Im happy we finally got out of Cail and florida and moved on to the big apple i needed some real people for once not tanning beds and fake boobs :)!

Emily.

my favorite on the show is Kelli i just love how down to earth she is. I hope her singing career takes off. in my opinion taylor seems really sweet but just a little too sweet. something seems off about her.

Was that Taylor Momsen from Gossip Girl? She was entering the club where Seb-hair-tain and his friend were standing in line?? And I am shocked that PC and Jessie don't blog??

why arent these kids blogging? wtf

you seem like a nice person.. but i gotta admit this show is boring..

Jessie and PC's relationship reminds me of my friendship with my best friend. We can have our arguments, but at the end of the day, we both have our childish moments that make us both giggle.

July 21 at 9:00 PM catch Kelli being trained by a world-renowned voice coach, Badiene Magaziner. She worked with me last year. There was an amazing difference in my voice quality and range. I believe every one should have voice lessons some time in their lives. A great voice is a must in any profession. You will get noticed! It helps me on and off the stage....I can't thank you enough Badiene!

If they can't find time to blog, I can't find time to watch. Sorry!

I find the intellectual maturity of these children quite amazing. At first I worried that they were being exploited, but goodness, it seems that they are actually bringing up their parents! I'll bet they give the producers a run for their money, too.

This is truly the stuff of Jane Austin--with a 21st Century twist. Doesn't every socio-economic range of reader enjoy "Pride & Predjudice"? We certainly aren't all Mr. Darcy or Miss Bingly, but the story is so loveable, and the scenery so picturesque, and the parties and "balls" so enjoyable! We thrill at the grandness of Pemberley, and we certainly don't say: "Why didn't Jane write about the common bloke?"! The intrigues, the love triangles, the sexual tensions, the betrayals, the sweet declarations of love are what keep us glued to the screen, and searching for the blogs afterwards! We follow Taylor like we follow Elizabeth Bennett. Could Camille be the modern Emma?

How refreshing to enjoy something so unlike explicit sex and violence on the screen!

I love, love, love PC! He's great.

Love the previous poster's thought about doing a similar show with a more "relatable' cast. I hope you will seriously consider that.

I find it annoying that the most interesting cast members don't blog. I think they should be required to do so. Can't you make that happen?

Love the show, its like "Cruel Intentions"-but in high school!
I wanted to comment on what viewer Kelly Hazard said about that its time for a "reality" show on real every day middle class people. Although I admit that it is fun watching all the "riches" and things that we cannot have, but I think its time to have some characters on TV that the viewers can actually relate to. That's why I think you should come to Memphis, TN and capture me and my friends in action in the dirrty south. We are a group of young (JAP's-Jewish American Princess)professionals ages 23-25 just trying to find jobs, love, and just live life to the fullest.Oh and we're also all trying to find husbands:)

Hello, Boss Man

I've been a Real Housewives (et al) addict since last season's HotLanta. Really thought I'd take a break after RHoNY's reunion, but then here comes RHoNJ and there goes another slate of Tuesday nights! Thought I'd pass on that one...but it hooked me. CERTAINLY thought that I would not get caught up on the Prep kids, but here I am!

I am wondering why PC and Jessie haven't submitted blogs. They must be pretty busy having graduated and all, but I was hoping they would take a few moments to leave messages for their "fans".

I can't decide if I adore PC or just want to beat him abruptly about the head and shoulders for a couple seconds for his insolence. He's cute as a bug's ear but annoying as all get out.

Jessie needs to "chillax" (Ally's word!). She may be among the Upper East Side's elite, but a smidgeon of humility would be very refreshing.

Would like you and the other producers of Bravo to consider asking the kids to blog. Would be nice.

The gay-thing...does it have to be a gay-thing? Can it not just be a thing thing...like Taylor and Sebastian? We see it coming...actually its already here...but is it a big deal or big hype? I think this is one of thos ethings, in spite of ratings, best left un-manipulated. Besides...PC is interesting without making it ominous (did I spell that right?).

I think Pc and Camille would make a cute couple, after watching them walk around the natural history museum...seems like there is something there. I was hoping Taylor would have gone for sebastian. I am looking forward to hearing kelly sing and also PC and Jesse's future interactions with Taylor as their "project", Taylor is my favorite to watch on the show...can't wait for more...love the show...thanks all

PC needs to blog he is hilarious.

Yeah, no offense to Taylor, who seems like a perfectly lovely girl, but I totally don't get why she's attracting so much attention from the guys. Unless the final edits are not showing her in more chatty moments (purposefully or not), she seems to be shy and strangely reserved in large groups. Nothing wrong with that, of course... I just don't get it is all.

...i want all the kids to blog...what can you do to make it happen?!?

I loved that same part! haha as Jesse puts her coat on to leave PC: I'm not lett--No, I'm leaving first! lol, I love them! I'm like 16, and though the worlds we live in are completely different *thank goodness, the love triangles and friendship problems and competitiveness in the school atmosphere is something everyone goes through. But, this episode made me sort of sad, because when Camille went on a date with Dan and he was talking about going to George Washington and they talked about it being a party school, I sort of took it to heart, because I would kill to go to George Washington. But, obviously they could go to any school they wanted, and I respect Jesse and Camille for working for it, and not resting on their laurels.

Love this show, it reminds me Pretty in Pink, love Taylor, how did you find such a non jaded New York Teenager? She is interesting, for the record I wanted to train dolpins at 15 and now I'm wondering when did that change - go train those elephants girl!

Well I've said it before but I just love your blog..sometimes I cringe at what the kids say on the show and I worry(!!) about them.. but your blog puts this protective wing over everyone. The whole show is turning into some of the best reality tv I've ever seen..love the supporting cast of friends too.

Hey Lenid,
I'm really enjoying NYC Prep and all of the reality shows on Bravo for that matter, so great job! Or should I say "Bravo!" (haha). However, I cant help but notice the "characters" in, well, basically every show are living these cliche, extravagant, rich, unrealistic lives. When probably 75% of the viewers and society for that matter are normal people. So I would love for you to come down to Tampa, Florida and do a reality show of my friends and I and show America that normal, middle-class people can be interesting too. What do you think? You should get the message out there that; ya being a rich ungrateful teenager can be interesting to watch. But teenagers that live regular lives, work for what they want and still manage to have the time of their lives are interesting as well...and lets be honest: more realistic and RELATABLE. I might be just getting this off my chest but I would be very pleased and SURPRISED if you at least wrote me back on this matter/proposition :)

Sincerely,
Kelly Hazard (Tampa, FL)
