Real NYC Action

The Real Kid of NY breaks down the first episode of 'Prep,' and talks about her own high school experience.

June 23, 2009

Hey guys! This is my FIRST blog on Bravotv.com, but I do have some experience from my mom’s past ones. If you like this one please comment and tell me so! So, the first episode of NYC Prep… P.S: I do know all of these kids and I must say that they are all really nice and fun. If you guys are reading this, my advice is BE REAL and true to who you are. Don’t let this show get to your head or bring you down. You are who you are and that will show eventually. If you are not “real” then it will just hurt you in the end.

On my high school experience: Well I am about to be a senior (my mom is still in shock) and I have had a unique high school experience. Most of my friends are a lot older or were seniors, so I wont be seeing too much of them anymore. I do go out a lot but mostly to adult parties and always supporting my friends. That's why I love Jessie so much on the show; I only go to parties to either support my friends, family, or make connections for my career in the fashion and art industry. And, that's exactly why she was at a party in the first episode. I am an aspiring photographer, go on www.allyzarin.com for my pictures, and anytime there is an exhibit or a party, I always go to meet fun and interesting people with similar interests. By the way, I am raising money for Teens Turning Green to raise advocacy for teens helping out our environment. So it would mean so much if you could donate HERE. Or buy this AWESOME necklace and 30% of proceeds will go to TTG.

Maybe I`ll be Captain Obvious, but... it's only few days to New Year last, so let's be happy!
Hoho3ho!)

Hi, Very funny post...

Great entry. Anticipating the next.

Love the main page. Do you think it will always be like this?

I HAVE TWO DAUGHTERS AND I WANT TO DO A GREAT JOB LIKE YOUR MOM HAS DONE.

THIS WILL BE MY LEGCY, TO RAISE TWO HEALTHY, KIND, INTELLIGENT AND HARD WORKING YOUNG LADIES.

PLEASE USE YOUR PRIVILEDGE FOR GOOD...AND NOT TO ONLY ADVANCE THE PRIVILEDGED.

I WORK AT PRINCETON. YOUR MOM HAS MY E-MAIL. IF YOU COME FOR A TOUR, I WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOU AND SHOW YOU AROUND TOWN.

Ally, it was great seeing your mom on Kathy Griffin last night! It was so funny! Question: That girl that Sebastian was on the date with, Remy, will we see more of her? I've seen her at every fashion show. She has a blog for 17 Mag. My friends and I were coming out of Pastis last week and we walked by the Gaansavort and there she was getting out of a Maybach with a bodyguard, dressed to kill in a pair of ridiculous Louboutins. Last week, friends of mine saw her with Lucy Liu. The week before that with Madonna's daughter Lourdes. Then I googled her because I've become a total fan seeing her everywhere and she was in LA for a Charlotte Ronson event hanging with Jeremy Piven and every other LA celeb. I met her once at the Marc Jacobs show, and believe it or not, she is actually nice - and so beautiful in person. Have you ever met her? Bring her back to NYC Prep! She is so interesting. If I wasn't gay I'd marry her! PS: PC is Hot!

Best part of the blog was the last page. Not that the rest wasn't good, but the first page felt like you were selling stuff. That belongs on LiveJournal, not Bravo. Stick to stuff about the show, no offense though!! :)

heyy ally,
I think everything that you said in your blog is completely true. I also go to a private high school in the south, and there is drama, stress, and hard work that must go into our work in order to get into the college of our dreams. It is not always easy, but i guess as high school students with ambitions, we must work hard to fufill these ambitions.

Anyway, I absolutely love your blog and hope you keep on writing. Its nice to see this show from a different point of view. Its not coming directly from the people on the show, but from a person who knows these people and can let us know a different point of view.

I love your mom, she absolutely cracks me up. Keep up your amazing attitude and personality. I am sure its not easy to do this while being on tv, but you're good at it.

heyy ally,
I absolutely think everything you said in your blog is true. I dont really know from 1st hand, but i go to a private high school in the South and there is still the stress, drama, and hard work that we must do in order to achieve the goal of getting into the college of our dreams.

Anyway, I loved reading your blog and I hope you continue to write blogs so we can keep up on what an outsider of the show but insider of the people on the show really thinks.

I love you and your Mama. You both absolutely crack me up.
Keep up the amazing attitude and person you are and how many people see you because that is hard to do being on a teleision show i am sure.

You and your mother were two of my favorites on Housewives of NYC! I really enjoyed watching both of you and I'm sure you'll be successful in your future endeavors!

Please, Ally, enough with the links and the advertising. I'm sure you learned that trick from your mom, but she caught a lot of heat for thinking Bravo viewers are remotely interested in sustaining your elite lifestyle/interests.

Ally,
Love you and your mom! Fun and insightful to read your comments on NY prep.
Good luck this summer w/ your internship.

Great job Ally!

Ally,
You are every bit as sweet and kind as your mother. You will go far in life.

heyy ally!! im a huge fan of the nyc housewives! its my favorite one! i think its because i live on long island but its also because of your mom. she is soooo funny and i loveee seeing you on the show! im watching nyc prep and i like it so far. i kept thinking that you should have been on the show and i wish you were it probly would have been a lot cooler!

Ally-
So so glad you did not do this show but are providing a third party point of view. Your mother must be so proud of you! not that we expect anything less than the amazing person you are because we know what a wonderful mom Jill is. God bless & don't let the high-school sh-t eat ya up, its a just a blip on the radar of your life!

Hello Ally, Keep blogging , you're doing a good job. I hope having money and being on the show will never change you. Keep your good values and always treasure family. You can be a great example to other teenagers. Life can be so uncertain these days that its nice to see the good in people.Hows the arthritis doing? I know it can be trying at times, but you have the best support system in the world in your Mom and Bobby. Not to mention Ginger...ha...ha...please tell your Mother not to let that mini tyrant lick her nose! Have a wonderful summer.

Keep righting blogs, your insight to this show serves as a prime example for a great unbias and brilliant opinion.
you are well raised and well grounded, and your a very fun teen.

Ally..how could I not write into your FIRST blog on bravotv.com. I am so proud of you. We also owe your high school a big THANK YOU for the wonderful education they have given you ( seriously...you have developed into an amazing writer my love) despite the comment that Kelly made that they do not give homework. I was personally offended at the comment she made ( at the time you were studying 10 hours day for finals..not eating or sleeping) and hope she recants that statement when school resumes in the Fall. When you were born I wondered what you would look like, where you would go to school, who you would marry and then who your children will be. Soon I will know where you will go to college and you know that scares me to death because the next question is who will you marry. We are all so proud of you and grandma and I will continue to teach you the "secrets" you need to know in your life. Love, Mommy

Ally,

I have to say it was nice to read what you had to say about the NYC Prep kids. I've avoided watching the show and all of the repeats of the debut because I just couldn't handle seeing a bunch of self obsessed and self aggrandizing children pretending to be adults, but I have to say that after reading your blog I might just tune in. I can't believe that all of these kids are as vapid as they've come across in promos if you're willing to speak so highly of them.

Would love to see you thrown in the mix.

Also, this is really off subject but I'd be interested in more information about your rheumatological issues and your family's charitable efforts...I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, and Sjogren's Syndrome and am wanting to learn all I can about building a charitable organization from the ground up.

Keep it going girlie!! You've got great female role models around you and those are some giant stilleto shoes to fill!

Ally - Adore you and your Mom and Grandmother! Just think that you are absolutely adorable, beautiful and have such a heart - you are so special - I can see you soaring into a truly wonderful woman. I just hope to see more of you on the HWNY beside your Mom, who brings such a smile into our lives. You are a gift to us all Ally. Best of luck always.

ms. Zarin, you're great and I think that is because you were genuinely raised by your mom and dad. On another note, I get sad when I watch the prep school kids. money doesn't raise your kids, people do. It is so sadly obvious that these kids have aweful self esteem and I blame their parents

Ally, It was great to read your blog--i hope many others read it too. I love nyc and being a nyc college student its always nice to watch any sort of show about this fabulous city!

You appear to be very bright and mature beyond your years.

ally...love you and your mom....you two are an ideal family and i love it..i really wish i could see more of you in the show you make me laugh so much...please keep blogging your doing a good job...<3

I don't usually comment on any of the Real Housewives' Blogs, but I have to comment on your because you are so level headed and completely sweet!

You should be on the show, it would be so much easier to watch

Ally-
I am such a fan of you and your mom! You are both beautiful and hilarious...Best wishes with college!

Ally,
I love your blog and your advice. I like the fact that you're supporting a great cause and such an active participator at your age. You are an amazing young woman and your parents should be so proud to have a daughter like you. I guess I'd also like to know why you chose not to be on the show. Why didn't you didn't say anything about Sebastian. Good luck this summer and with college apps. I know how stressful that can be! Where are you applying? Whats your first choice?

Ally,
NYC is my favorite "Housewives" series. You, your family, and Bethenny are by far my favorites on the show. I think it's great that you are so down-to-earth and support causes you beleive in; just like your mother.

It was great to hear your opinion of NYC Prep as a viewer and insider. You said that you helped to get Kelli on the show (you probly helped get most of them on the show). This leaves me wondering why YOU were not featured on the show. I would love to see more of you, so I was wondering if you were ever asked to be featured and why you turned it down. Just wondering.

ally, i absolutely adored you on housewives and on this show. i have to say the kids should be taking advice from you since your an outsider looking in when it comes to the show.
i also want to know why you are not on the show? i absolutely love you mother, she's great, hilarious and honest. and both of you know what your talking about.
i just have one last thing to say, this show is great and it gives the not so privaliged a look into you guys' lifestyle. xoxo thanks.

I happen to be a 17-year-old New Yorker and I've attended both private and public schools so I know just how difficult and different the two experiences are. However, I applaud you for acknowledging that this show does not represent reality fully; it portrays these teens and their lives in an exaggerated manner and fails to represent the full spectrum of life in the city. By cramming together a bunch of drama-filled scenes and leaving out the rest of what we experience growing up in NYC this show makes Upper East siders appear selfish, naive, and egotistical. We may party, we may go to clubs, we may buy some expensive clothing, but that's not our lives. I spend hours studying, going to school, participating in extracurriculars, helping out around the house, going to movies, chilling at my friends' houses; all completely AVERAGE things. Being a New York prep schooler doesn't mean you're part of the upper crust of society. I go to Taylor's school now and it's not a bunch of underprivileged, naive, children who are totally beneath my friends at prep schools. We all have matured quickly and we probably have better "edicit" than most of the people on this show, although the people I've met on this show aren't as bad as they have been painted to be.

Hi Ally ,watched the show religously i'm from Jamaica, and i must say, given the sometimes fashionable, negative & sometimes abrasive attitude peers of your era portray, it's refreshing to see someone like you to be well grounded and discipline ..... i like the relationship you & your mom share, i do your consistecny to be a nice young lady keep it up. Are you going to college now?

Ally, I must say your mom has done a great job with you and I sense how you guys are not only mother/ daughter, but also friends. I can't imagine you knowing these kids. It was disgraceful. Your mom seems to care about you. Where are their parents? You seem like a grounded young lady. Don't ever put yourself in the same sentence with these "snobby" prep kids. I understand that kids in the NYC are different and a bit more independent, which is awesome, but I feel they need to show some class.

I could not STAND PC. If you say he isn't that bad then I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but I have a hard time believing it. He was so bitchy to Taylor about her behavior at the fashion show. Could you imagine if he met Ramona?

Ally,

You are such a sweetheart. Out of every season of housewives you are the most grounded teenager. Your mother has done an excellent job in raising you. Great blog, keep 'em comin. :)

You and your mom are hilarious!
The zarins are a cute family!

Ally, you are adorable! (I would expect no less from Jill's daughter, I must say.) You are also very smart to opt out of appearing on this show. I really applaud you for that.

Have a great summer!

Ally, love you and your mom I do find it strange that you would be friends with Kelli but as we can tell you are a little more grounded. Love your blog your filling big shoes.

Xoxoxoxo

Ally, why weren't you on this show? I think the show could use someone like you. I think these kids look silly trying to act so grown up and how does Kelli live in the city when her parents are in the Hampton’s most of the time? I thought that was against the law? Minors need adult supervision other then an eighteen year old brother...but other then that I really liked her. I liked Taylor too; I hope the rest of the season lives up to the rest of the Bravo shows.

Keep blogging.

Love you Ally, you are amazing!

First, I really love your blog and the fact that you're supporting a great cause
I guess I'd also like to know why you chose not to be on the show and you didn't say anything about Sebastian.
Good luck this summer and with college apps. I know how stressful that can be! I am so excited to see how things go in the show.

I have to ask this because about 20 mins into last night's show my normally dormant gaydar went off - PC is gay, right?

My sister went to Harvard (also got accepted to MIT) and good grades is definitely not enough to get in. Most people who apply have amazing grades - so it's the things you do in addition to great grades that sets you apart. I believe there is an essay in the application which is also important - I seem to recollect her essay helped her. Her esssay wasn't stiff but full of personality. I think it's all about what you can do to make yourself appear unique in addition to smart.

It'll be interesting to see how the season progresses.

Ally-
Great blog... I can't believe you are friends with someone like Kelli though. She seems a bit much. So far I only like Taylor. Enjoy your summer and I hope you get that early admission. LOVE your show.

Ally,
I really like your take on everythjing thats happened on the show. But I have to ask why didn't yoyu want to be on the show? I really agree with you about the decipition of all of these Teens. I thjink the producers only take a small amount of gossip, clubing, drinking, and ect. out for the show. i doubt that the majority of thoe filming has all of the above. I don't belive all NYC kids are like that. They probably only appear like that for the sake of the show. I love how you really clarified everything in the show with your blog! I love this show.

Ally, I think you are such a well adjusted young lady. It's good to have an avenue to express that to you. My praises go out to Jill as well. I'm only in my late 20s but I can recognize good parenting when I see it. Jill reminds me so much of my own mom. Great job on the blog Ally and yes, I agree with you regarding what we have seen so far of each cast member; it's not the best impression of any one of them so far. I'll stay tuned, hoping for something other than the stereotype.

Jaide.

Hey Ally!

You are the sweetest girl! You're mom is the best housewife out of the whole series, and I identify with your family the most. You're family are the most down to earth people out of all the shows, and you don't show off your money likes others. Keep going strong, and I hope you succeed in whatever you do! Please tell your mom that Ohio University college girls are on TEAM JILL!!!

Love ya!

Bonnie

go Ally

you are so cute.......

Ally,
You are much better adjusted than those spoiled brats, and you will go far in life. Your mother did not raise you to take advantage of your priviledge like the "kids" on the show do.
