- Message to the Crashers - Don't Mess with the Slayer!
- "If you are a fashion fan and just want to try to get in if there happen to be some empty seats at a show, my advice is to..."
Recently I was asked by Fashionista.com if I had any advice or thoughts I would like to share about Fashion Week, and I think the quote I gave them relates back very well to Episode 2 of Kell on Earth, as follows: "A lot of blood, sweat and tears go into producing a fashion show. Just remember that for most of us, Fashion Week is a BUSINESS -- NOT a party."
I have worked hundreds of doors for fashion weeks around the world and many have been extremely intense and made me want or NEED to scream. Indeed, I end up losing my voice almost every single fashion week season! At the Chado Ralph Rucci show front-of-house, I was stunned. Not only did we have a glitch in our computer system that caused us so many headaches -- but I was actually quite shocked when I realized that all of the people left in the lobby were just there to try to crash. What bothers me about crashers (i.e. those who are not invited and have no legitimate reason to be there) especially is that they have no regard for the people who are working on and organizing these shows. These people stand in line and walk up to our check-in tables with all sorts of ridiculous tactics - they are friends with the designer, they are best friends with Kelly (or Robyn or me), they are a buyer for such and such (but with no business card....) The one that drives me the most crazy is when they walk up and say somebody's name and they are clearly not that person. Thankfully I have been in this business for long enough to know what most of the important editors LOOK like - and I am most often the one who busts out the fakers and bans them. Occasionally they ARE legitimately coming for their boss, but in my opinion they should walk up and tell us the truth - that their boss asked them to come in their place. The fact that they think that as an assistant they can still have the priority seating of their boss just irks me. We meticulously go through the lists and ensure the right people are invited and we spend hours and hours working on the seating chart, so that everything runs as smoothly as it possibly can. But when you have a lobby full of people who are lying and trying to scam their way in - it just makes our job SO much more difficult!

Deenah- Determined to humiliate?! Get over YOURSELF. I think the senior staff has better things to do with their busy lives... Are you a friend of Stephanie Vorhees or something?

Here's my .02: you're producing fashion shows, which I know is an important part of culture, and you are working for some very important designers, and a lot of money is at stake. That being said..you're producing fashion shows. You're not researching a cure for cancer or sculpting young minds. You might want to get over yourself just a bit.
Stephanie V. is indeed making a ton of mistakes, but, as you and others in the office have pointed out, she hasn't worked Fashion Week before, and appears to be getting little to no guidance from you or anyone else. You expect her to know what she's doing, even though she's never done it before, admit she's not getting any help, and then want to crucify her in front of America for being human. Wow, what a role model you are. What a positive force you are, helping someone who's just getting into the industry. You should be really proud of your berating, yelling, dismissive, determined to humiliate behavior.

Don't blame Emily for those gift bags. I'm sure she was just following the producer's orders.

You need to print out a picture of Julia Allison, a notorious wannabe who crashed Chado Ralph Rucci by claiming to be from NBC (she's not). She was not only in the front row with her friend Mary Rambin (who is also a nobody), seated right next to Martha Stewart, but she got backstage as well. She was the orange-haired person with a donkey-like bray (she now has Pentecostal-style extensions down to her elbows). She is proud of crashing shows, and bragged online about crashing yours.

Serious all of you women are awesome. So much hardcore "girlpower" on the show. Im sorry but if Voorhees is still employed at PR than that is sad, so many people that are willing to bust their asses.

90 percent of what you read is true except that about which you have personal knowledge. The same goes for tv. I'm sure Emily's clip is one of the more minor editing mishaps. KOE is much more interesting than real life.

You need bouncers!!!!lol...I know maybe it may not be possible but maybe you need to have tables outside they start there and then by the time they get to you they really should be there.. and that everyone needs to have ID's like they do for the Olympics...on a neck chain and if they don't have one "NO Entrance"...they would be easy to pick out and of course have something on them to know that they are the real thing...but don't use your "interns" they would surely screw everything up....lol...loved it when you told Stephanie V to go sit down...she is not going to make it...you should just fire her now....

Sarah-Renee 82 is right, the editing was misleading, she wasn't referring to gift bags. Kelly was right, Ava could have done a much better job than that. How is it that these interns are still there taking valuable spots that countless COMPETENT students and aspiring PR Warriors would kill for?

It sounded like Tim said "Stephanie said..." and the captions said "*Stephanie" as in Vorhees told them to label the gift bags like that. Could you be mistaken about Tim, and why is he the joke of the office?

Ok, here's the real deal. Emily was shown saying something about writing instead of using labels, but she was referring to something else. You might notice that she refers to addresses- She was actually talking about invites. Her direction had nothing to do with the gift bags, although the editing was misleading. It was confusing because they showed this clip right before the whole incident- but it was merely a result of bad editing. The Slayer would never direct the interns to do such sloppy work.. and she certainly wouldn't allow them to misspell words such as FINANCIAL!
